Anna Júlía Fridbjörnsdóttir
Anna Julia Fridbjörnsdottir lives and works in Reykjavík and Berlin. She employs a variety of media and materials to explore contemporary social and environmental concerns from a poetic perspective, imaginatively reconciling human-based perception systems to express our navigational desires. Her works engage with the fluidity of information and the transformative power of interpretation and communication.
Anna Julia studied in Iceland and in the UK (MA Fine Art, Manchester School of Arts, Manchester Metropolitan University, 2004 / BA Fine Art, London Guildhall University, 1998 / The Icelandic College of Arts and Craft, 1993-95). Her work has been shown internationally in numerous group exhibitions and in solo exhibitions in Iceland and Germany. Anna Júlía was nominated for the Icelandic Art Prize in 2018 and was a grantee of the Icelandic Art Center at Künstlerhaus Bethanien in Berlin 2022-2023.
