Art Cologne 2026: Palma, Mallorca
Overview
ART COLOGNE presents new fair for contemporary art on the island of Majorca in partnership with the Mallorquin gallery association Art Palma Contemporani (APC)
Koelnmesse, the parent company of ART COLOGNE, announces the new art fair in Palma, Majorca, set to take place next spring from 9 to 12 April 2026.
ART COLOGNE PALMA MALLORCA is complementing the traditional fall edition in Cologne (6 - 9 November 2025) with an exclusive new annual spring meeting point in the south of Europe.
"Majorca has a deep connection with modern and contemporary art – like Joan Miró’s studio and foundation, the Es Baluard Museum and important galleries like Baro, Kewenig, Pelaires, Xavier Fiol, Fermay and LA BIBI + REUS, to name only a few. Nearby, Hauser & Wirth has a space on Menorca, while Gathering from London and Parra & Romero from Madrid have opened galleries on Ibiza. The Balearic Islands offer a vibrant, exciting and growing art scene and are easily accessible from all major European cities – and now even from New York City. When we were approached by the Art Palma Contemporani gallery association to expand our fair to Majorca, the idea of a spring edition to complement our November fair made perfect sense.” - Daniel Hug, Artistic Director ART COLOGNE
ART COLOGNE PALMA MALLORCA will be realised in close cooperation with the Mallorquin gallery association Art Palma Contemporani (APC), which is functioning as the conceptual sponsor. The APC has been headed by Fran Reus since 2022. He is the founder of Galerie Fran Reus and is partner in La Bibi+Reus, which opened in Palma in 2016, and a defining figure in the contemporary art scene of the Balearics. Reus and the APC bring valuable impulses to the new fair format and position Palma and the entire island as an exciting and innovative art location with a European reach.
"Majorca is increasingly consolidating its position as a cultural landmark in the Mediterranean. The island will take a new step toward the internationalisation of its art scene with the arrival of ART COLOGNE, one of the oldest and most prestigious art fairs in the world. Its arrival on Majorca under the name ART COLOGNE PALMA MALLORCA represents not only the expansion of a brand with great international prestige, but also a unique opportunity to strengthen the historical and emotional bonds between Germany and the island. ART COLOGNE PALMA MALLORCA has the support of Art Palma Contemporani, the association I have the honour of chairing, which brings together the city's leading contemporary art galleries. This alliance ensures that the event is deeply connected to the island's cultural reality, offering a platform for international exposure for local artists and galleries.” - Fran Reus, Art Palma Contemporani, Palma
The fair is also being decisively supported by the Ajuntament de Palma, the Consell de Mallorca and the Govern de les Illes Balears, which are all engaged as sponsors of cultural projects.
This new fair format will focus more on human exchange, dialogue and the focused, curated display of solo and group presentations by leading galleries. Booths will be at the modest end of the spectrum, offering a range of four sizes: S, M, L, XL. Pricing moves on a sliding scale, with a lower price for galleries under ten years old and an option for premium placement for the larger sized booths. For its first edition, ART COLOGNE PALMA MALLORCA trusts in a special degree of exclusivity; galleries are accepted only by invitation in order to ensure a broad range of emerging to established contemporary art galleries.
