Biography

Anna Sigmond Gudmundsdottir (b. 1974) has gained wide recognition for her drawings, monumental wall paintings, and installations, presented both within and outside traditional art institutions. She works across installation, painting, drawing, and photography. Educated in Norway and Iceland, she was one of the first Norwegian artists to participate in the Manifesta Biennale, already in 2002, and has since held numerous solo exhibitions in Austria, Germany, Sweden, Finland, Iceland, and Norway. Her work has been shown at institutions such as the Henie Onstad Kunstsenter, Astrup Fearnley Museum, Galleri Brandstrup, OK Center of Contemporary Art in Linz, the Living Art Museum in Reykjavik, and Sørlandets Kunstmuseum.

 

Sigmond Gudmundsdottir has also completed a number of major public art projects and commissions, including for DnB’s new headquarters in Bjørvika and the University of Stavanger. Since 2010, she has co-founded and developed Harpefoss Hotel as an art center and artist-in-residency program together with curator Eivind Slettemeås.
