Chart Art Fair 2026: Copenhagen
Gallery Gudmundsdottir, Berlin, will participate in CHART Art Fair 2026 in August with a presentation by Icelandic Love Corporation.
Icelandic Love Corporation presents Written in Blood, a body of watercolour works addressing menopause as a rite of passage. After centuries of medical research, scientific classification, feminist discourse and self-organised knowledge production around the female body, menopause remains surrounded by silence and cliché. The project proposes a shift in perspective: from deficit to transformation, from invisibility to ceremony.
At CHART, the collective introduces a performative gesture within the framework of the works — women who have completed menopause are awarded a diploma, marking the transition as an achievement rather than a loss. Through subtle humour and expressive, fluid imagery, Written in Blood opens a space for reflection on cycles, endings and post-reproductive futures. The presentation frames menopause not as decline, but as a moment of agency, experience and renewed visibility.
The presentation reflects the gallery’s commitment to research-driven practices that engage social narratives while maintaining formal precision and conceptual clarity.
