Art Cologne 2026: Palma, Mallorca

Overview
Palau de Congressos, Palma Bay P224 Thursday, 9 - 12 April 2026 https://www.artcologne.com/

At Art Cologne Palma, Gallery Gudmundsdottir presents a focused selection of works by Erla S. Haraldsdottir, Endre Aalrust, and Anna Júlía Friðbjörnsdóttir, bringing together distinct yet resonant practices across painting, sculpture, and works on paper.

Haraldsdottir’s paintings are drawn from her Genesis series, in which she explores states of emergence and transformation. Working between figuration and abstraction, her compositions unfold through layered surfaces and subtle tonal shifts, evoking spaces that feel at once embryonic and atmospheric. The works suggest interior landscapes in flux, where form and meaning remain open and continuously forming.

Aalrust’s paintings are rooted in situational observations, spanning scenes of daily life, queer experience, and still life. His works carry a sense of immediacy, where intimate moments and staged compositions coexist. Moving between the personal and the referential, Aalrust constructs images that are both direct and nuanced, allowing narrative fragments and emotional undercurrents to surface without becoming fixed.

Friðbjörnsdóttir’s presentation introduces a sculptural and material counterpoint, centred on a sundial made from a cast of a walrus tusk. The work brings together associations of time, orientation, and natural form, translating an organic structure into a measured instrument. Alongside this, her works on paper extend a more intimate exploration of process, line, and repetition, maintaining a sensitivity to material transformation across different scales.

Rather than proposing a fixed narrative, the presentation invites a fluid encounter between different modes of image-making and material inquiry. Together, the works form a constellation of perspectives that reflect the gallery’s commitment to research-driven practices and nuanced artistic voices.
