Vienna Digital Cultures

Kolbeinn Hugi

Kolbeinn Hugi participates in Vienna Digital Cultures 2026 (VDC), curated by Nadim Samman, taking place in Vienna from 21 May 2026. The festival opens at FOTO ARSENAL WIEN, unfolding across exhibition spaces, public locations, and digital platforms with a programme of installations, performances, talks, screenings, and club nights. The accompanying exhibition runs from 22 May to 6 September 2026.

This year’s edition brings together international artists exploring how digital environments reshape ecological, political, and social imaginaries, under the broader thematic frame “Alone or Together?”

As part of the programme, Kolbeinn Hugi will present the new digital commission SPLORB: Eco-Tech Management, and participate in the panel discussion

Talk on Digital Projects 2026 on 23 May 2026 at FOTO ARSENAL WIEN.

The talk features Joaquina Salgado and Kolbeinn Hugi, with online contributions by Yarema Malashchuk and Roman Khimei.

SPLORB: Eco-Tech Management is an absurdist game in which players assist a fictional activist navigating a bureaucratic multispecies internet, building fragile connections between ecosystems in a race against ecological collapse. The work continues Kolbeinn Hugi’s exploration of speculative systems, digital ecologies, and non-human networks.

The accompanying panel discussion will address how games, simulations, and virtual environments can generate new ways of thinking about ecology, memory, and entanglement with non-human life.
