VBKI Preis BERLINER GALERIEN 2026

Gallery Gudmundsdottir SHORTLISTED

Gallery Gudmundsdottir was honoured with an Anerkennungspreis of the VBKI Preis BERLINER GALERIEN 2026, following its selection for the prestigious three-gallery shortlist alongside galerie burster and Super Super Markt.

The award, presented on 11 September 2026 at PalaisPopulaire as part of Berlin Art Week, celebrates the role of Berlin’s galleries in shaping the city’s international art scene and recognises their curatorial and entrepreneurial commitment to contemporary art.

Gallery Gudmundsdottir was selected with its presentation of Mathias Gramoso’s Rhetorical Silence, an exhibition exploring perception, embodiment and the relationship between the individual and their environment. At its centre is a large enclosed white fiberglass sphere, conceived as both sculpture and architecture, inviting questions around visibility, interiority, communication and experience.

The 2026 edition marked the 10th anniversary of the VBKI Preis BERLINER GALERIEN, established in 2017 by the Verein Berliner Kaufleute und Industrieller (VBKI) together with the Landesverband Berliner Galerien (lvbg), with support from the Senatsverwaltung für Wirtschaft, Energie und Betriebe. The prize is an official part of the BERLIN ART WEEK programme and carries a total of €15,000 in prize money:

We are very pleased to have been part of this year’s shortlist and to have received recognition for Rhetorical Silence and the work of Mathias Gramoso.
